Schindler’s Factory Tour

It compiles the most important and historical moments of the Nazi period lived in Poland.

Schindler’s Factory Tour

On this tour we explore the Jewish Ghetto as it was during World War II and retell the agonizing and tragic stories of the holocaust. We take you to Lipowa Street and travel back in time to 1939, when Krakow was the capital of the Nazi occupation, and where the iconic “Schindler’s Factory” (known at that time as the Deutsche Emailwarenfabrik) was taken over by its infamous, but heroic, Herr Direktor: Oskar Schindler.

As we explore this district we contemplate the thousands upon thousands of faces filled with misery but—startlingly also betrayed a glimmer of hope. Those faces of men, women, and children from Krakow who somehow lived through the tragedy of the Nazi regime, their lives forever changed. We listen for, and can almost hear, the incessant, agonizing sirens and the despotic barking of German Shepherds as they accompany the days public executions. We feel
the streets and walls of the invasion closing in. This is the Jewish Ghetto as it was.

We relive the times of the Nazi Occupation in Poland by learning its history. We learn that businessman and Nazi party member Oskar Schindler first took advantage of the opportunism offered by the war and the slave labor of the Jews in Krakow when he founded his factory.

Then we march on the same gravel and view the same electric gates and fences of Plaszów Concentration Camp that he did when he observed the Nazi cruelty, a cruelty that knew no bounds as masses of Jews were murdered. Seeing so much suffering, Schindler decided to enlist 1,200 Jews as essential employees for the sole purpose of saving their lives from being transported to the Auschwitz concentration camp.

The “Schindler Factory” that became a safe haven for endangered Jews is now an iconic museum. We visit it on this tour as we honor the lives saved from Nazi terror by Oskar Schindler. But more than a museum, it is part of a story to be revived and never forgotten.

We perfectly know that this Schindler’s Factory Tour is emotional and essential if you want to visit Krakow.
